There is no extra work associated with the RWC.

Changes in the enrollment structure of the RWC:

Through Spring 2013 students wishing to use the RWC were required to enroll in the class called ENGLB 70 and could re-enroll until they completed a total of six units.  Beginning with Fall 2013, students could no longer re-enroll in ENGLB 70.  Instead, students must register for one of the following classes one semester at a time:

ENGLB 70          ENGLB 75

ENGLB 72          ENGLB 76

ENGLB 73          ENGLB 77

Each class may be taken for a maximum of 1.0 unit.  The focus of ENGLB 70 through 73 is improving writing skills whereas the focus of ENGLB 75 through 77 is improving reading skills. Please note: Students who enroll in ENGLB 74 or 78 must complete those hours in the RWC at the Elk Grove Center.

Who can use the RWC:
Students enrolled at CRC may register to use the RWC, whether or not they are taking an English class. However, in order to use the RWC, enrollment in one of the ENGLB classes is required.

Attendance requirement:
Students may receive college credit for their work in the center by registering for

  • .5 unit (22.5 hours attendance required) or
  • 1.0 unit (45 hours attendance required).

An ENGLB class is graded on a Credit/No Credit basis, and no lectures are given.

Registration information:
Students can register for an ENGLB class online or in the Admissions Office. Students may register any time during the first several weeks of the semester (Fall 19 registration deadline = October 25).

Please view the FAQ page for more information regarding ENGLB registration.

Getting Started:

As soon as students enroll in an ENGLB class, they are welcome to begin working in the RWC right away. They drop by the lab, complete and submit a simple, easy-to-read agreement, and begin! From day one of Week 1, English professors and Instructional Assistants are available and eager to help students meet the challenges of the new semester.
